Pre-Game 4/7/09: Tampa Bay Rays VS. Boston Red Sox

For games we will be providing pre-game and post-game analysis. With that being said and the Boston weather screwing things again this gives me time to bring the first ever pre-game anaylsis. We do not have the line up in hand but if we had to guess we would say it would go something like this:

Akinori Iwamura 2B
Carl Crawford LF
Evan Longoria 3B
Carlos Pena 1B
Pat Burrell DH
Matt Joyce CF
Dioner Navarro C
Gabe Gross RF
Jason Bartlett SS

James Shields P

We will post the official lineups tomorrow before the game.

Big game James takes the mound in hopes to bringing a win in the first game of the season for your 2008 American League Champions. Tampa will have to deal with bad weather and harsh fans in order to be successful tomorrow.

What To Watch For
If Joyce starts we get a first glimpse at the RF of the future. His at-bats while Upton is gone are crucial to seeing where he can end up during the season. Big Game’s change-up. His out pitch will be huge in shutting down the Sox big hitters. Look for it during 1-2 and 2-2 counts to finish hitters.

Stealing. Varitek should be behind the plate. Which means run like you’ve stole something. Rays should have a field day on the base path with his arm behind the plate.
